A tragic accident involving two vehicles occurred on Old Highway 2 in the City of Quinte West, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrived at the scene of the collision near Quinte View Drive.
One driver was declared dead at the scene, while a passenger in that vehicle succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the hospital. The second driver was transported to the hospital with injuries that remain unspecified. The section of Old Highway 2 between RCAF Road and Whites Road is currently closed as the investigation continues, but has since reopened at 10 p.m.
The Technical Collision Investigation team and an OPP Collision Reconstructionist are collaborating with the Quinte West OPP. Anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage is urged to contact Quinte West OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
