CO₂ neutral buildings: Study calls for accelerated energy renovation in building sector to achieve fossil-free goals

In order to make the German building sector independent of fossil fuels by 2050, it is necessary to double the rate of energy-efficient renovation and to avoid resource-intensive new construction. These are the findings of a study by the Institute for Socio-Economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen, in which the University of Linz was also involved. The researchers emphasize the need for a socially just transformation with wealth-based subsidies. The study has just been published in npj Climate Action.
